Did you know that there isn’t a hell, and that all dogs go to heaven? Or how about this one, did you know that when you go to heaven, you’ll have seventy virgins that are all yours? there is no god, we are just here one moment, and the next we’re dead and gone, nothing happens. As a young man once told me “we’re like light bulbs, once you burn out that’s it.” Did you know that God was first a man who progressed to his godhood, and you can do the same? Did you know that there is no absolute truth, its all relative to what works for you, and that’s really the truth? Here’s my favorite, there is one God, He’s triune, and He was manifested in His only begotten son Jesus the Christ who died an agonizing death on a mountain called Golgotha and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit who was sent by the Father to testify about Jesus to the glory of the Father. Which one of these do you believe if any, and why?
This is definitely not the easiest task for some Christians. Neither is it for those who hold to another faith or those who claim to have no religious view. But what is evident in any of the many religious conversations that could be had, whether Christian or not, is that we all want to believe in something, even if you may claim that you don’t believe in nothing.
It’s a new year here at Patten University and some of us are returning students yet others are fresh fish in the pond, but regardless of what year you may have come in on or major you are pursuing, keep in mind that there is a world that each one of us has come from and different backgrounds with different conceptions, and maybe even some misconception. So as the year goes by in a blink of an eye lets try our best to take a closer look at why we are here at Patten University; what do you believe and who do you believe it about
